Briteling Blog - Medium

Introducing Kenton- one of our Product Managers in Nashville! On any given day, you can find him in the office with a big smile on his face, eager to chat about his dog, Gizmo, or his love of the Briteland.

How long have you been a Briteling?

3 whole months come March 4th.

Give us the tl;dr on your role.

As a Product Manager, I’m responsible for the development of products and/or features related to creating events on Eventbrite. I work alongside a team of engineers and product managers to ensure that Event Creator’s have the best experience when creating and hosting events through the Eventbrite platform. Additionally, I’m responsible for exploring opportunities and prioritizing what our great software development team will work on.

What’s the biggest challenge that your team is trying to tackle this year?

How to increase the conversion rate of SSO creators who use our platform to publish events.

What were you doing before Eventbrite, and what inspired you to join the team?

Working in Healthcare. Supporting enterprise IT projects at Cardinal Health in the midwest. More recently built products and features for a tool that stores medical records.

What’s your favorite part of your Briteland?

My favorite part of Briteland is all the supportive and friendly people that work here. During my onboarding these first few months in the Briteland, I’ve seen nothing but smiles and friendly faces. When I need help or direction everyone is willing and open to helping as much as possible. I’m also enjoying how much I’m learning from everyone. Both work and non-work related.

Have you gotten to travel to any of the other Britelands? What was it like?

Traveled to the SF office and it was my first time in San Francisco. It was an amazing experience. In the SF office, I feel a strong sense of comradery and dedication to delivering on our promise to our customers.

What gets you most excited about the company’s future?

I’m excited to see the impact the company has on society and shifting our focus as consumers away from over-indulging in products and services and more towards connecting with other people through live experiences. As a global company, I’m also excited about what we can learn from other cultures and geo’s and how those insights can help build bridges across various groups of people on our platform.

What was 10 year old you like?

10 year old me was a kid who wanted to have fun whether riding bikes or playing video games. I was also fairly inquisitive. I’d often get in trouble for taking gadgets and electronics apart and failing to put them back together correctly. I also put together my first Dell computer kit and created my first email account. I think via Hotmail.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you cast to play you?

  • Young me: Caleb McLaughlin
  • College me: John Boyega
  • Adult me: Winston Duke
