Eventbrite is growing rapidly in Europe after a recent acquisition. This growth requires a dedicated Finance team to scale the business throughout Europe where previously all finance activities were led from our headquarters in San Francisco. We are looking for an experienced European Financial Controller who will work closely with the US and European Finance teams as well as various business leaders. You will be responsible for the timely month-end close, internal and external financial reporting, and finance operational support to our European entities. This position will report into the worldwide Controller organization.
The Amsterdam based Finance team is a tight-knit and growing team leading all financial activities for all of our European entities. We recently became part of Eventbrite through an acquisition which has rapidly expanded our business and finance needs throughout the region. Partnering with our Global Finance team, we’re responsible for ensuring the financial health and strength of Eventbrite.
Responsible for all accounting and related activities of EB-European entities (the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Ireland, United Kingdom)
Timely and accurate delivery of entity financial reporting requirements including Statutory reporting, US-GAAP reporting & Management reporting
Month-end consolidations, reporting, and various analysis (e.g. BvA)Monthly account reconciliations and support
Annual financial statement audits and quarterly reviews
Accounts payables and expense reimbursements
Payouts to organizers
Payroll payment review, approval, and corresponding journal entries/recons
Commission payment to local business development personnel
Local tax compliance reporting (VAT/employer, etc.)
Transfer pricing / inter-company reporting
ERP system conversion, training, and ongoing maintenance
Streamlining of processes and systems to facilitate on-going scalability and efficiency goals
Documentation of existing workflows / procedures / and controlsImplementation of key and secondary controls to prevent/detect material misstatements and reduce overall reporting risk
Manage, coach and develop team of six, continue to foster and develop a culture of collaboration, accountability, and efficiency
Partner closely with US-Accounting and Finance teams to ensure various levels of existing and/or new approvals and policies are implemented and met
Partner closely with Eventbrite, Inc. (US) to ensure various product updates
THE SKILL SET
10+ years of related experience
Fluent in Dutch and English
Finance / Accounting degree
Big 4 public accounting experience
Experience working in regional or global roles in multinational companies
Strong quantitative analysis capabilities, with the ability to read, analyse, interpret and explain complex financial data
Demonstrable experience with month-end activities, working well under pressure with tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy, focus, and composure
Highly resourceful with a willingness to get involved and get the job done
Knowledge and awareness of European filing requirements
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Strong knowledge of Excel
Experience with ERP systems highly desirable (e.g. Workday, Netsuite, Oracle)
Pre - CPA and/or Chartered Accountant and tech sector experience
Pre - knowledge of US-GAAP
