We’re looking for a talented and collaborative Commercial Counsel to manage a diverse set of stakeholders and deal structures in our customer, vendor, and partner contracts. You will work closely with our growing sales organization and own contracts with our most high profile event organizers in music, sports, and more!


We are a small (but growing!) legal team and we believe this role is an outstanding career growth opportunity. The members of the Eventbrite Legal team are active partners to the entire company, providing practical business-oriented guidance that protects our company as it grows and evolves. As a member of the Legal team, you’ll have the opportunity to actively contribute to that growth while tackling a wide variety of legal issues. Your job will matter, and you will never be bored.


Eventbrite is seeking a highly motivated team player with a passion for technology commercial contracts to serve as Commercial Counsel. Days are fast-paced and action-packed, and the ideal candidate will be eager to roll up their sleeves and problem-solve on matters of all kinds, but focusing primarily on structuring, drafting and negotiating contracts. The position is highly cross- functional, partnering closely with business units across the company, including sales, sales operations, strategy, finance, marketing and human resources.


  • Draft and negotiate a high volume of outbound services contracts to support a fast-moving, global sales organization
  • Manage and maintain template agreements, contract playbooks and sales process
  • Enforce Eventbrite’s contractual rights and manage legal issues related to underperforming contracts
  • Provide practical legal support across the company in structuring and negotiating vendor agreements
  • Remain up-to-date on commercial and industry developments to ensure an ongoing ability to provide excellent legal advice
  • Coordinate and manage internal projects, trainings, processes, and drive cross-functional efforts to successful completion


  • J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar
  • 4-6 years of combined legal experience at a global law firm and/or in-house legal department at a technology company
  • Extensive commercial experience, including drafting and negotiating SaaS and other services agreements, licenses and strategic transactions
  • Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, and data processing agreements
  • A confident, effective, and positive negotiator who can lead the process, focus on important issues, and efficiently bring deals to a favorable close
  • Intellectual flexibility and business-oriented attitude
  • Creative and practical legal counselor who can communicate information accurately and completely, while being concise and digestible for non-lawyers
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
  • Thoughtful and persuasive interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Collaborative team player combined with ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Very important to have a sense of humor and enjoy practicing law


  • Contract management experience
  • Understanding of transactions involving recoupable payments and secured transactions
  • Understanding of insurance: event cancellation, general liability, cyber liability, E&O
  • Basic understanding of employment law
  • Basic understanding of regulation and policy related to product development and market expansion
  • Active Eventbrite user with a passion for live events
