THE CHALLENGE

We’re looking for a talented and collaborative Contracts Manager to drive and support our commercial contracting process. As Eventbrite serves event creators around the world, our sales teams are actively negotiating new and renewing opportunities. You will manage and contribute to contracts with our most high profile event organizers, and with Eventbrite’s vendors and partners. You will own contract processes and systems, driving efficiency and empowering our various stakeholders. This role is a key driver in successfully developing and executing on the contracting process, from drafting to negotiations and managing markups, through execution; escalating to and engaging in-house counsel as needed. 


THE TEAM

The Eventbrite Legal team partners with all areas of the business to develop proactive strategies and solutions that drive business growth while satisfying legal requirements and accounting for appropriate legal risk. As a member of the Commercial Contracts team, you’ll have the opportunity to actively contribute to that growth while making our contracting processes for customers, vendors, and partners run efficiently. The Commercial Contracts team enables our sales and other teams to move rapidly while ensuring long-term success. 

We're a close knit Legal team. We work hard but try not to take ourselves too seriously. We are highly adaptable and constantly evolving. We set high expectations for ourselves and support each other in providing top-notch partnership to our colleagues.

THE ROLE

  • Conduct and organize contract review, negotiation, interpretation, internal approvals, and basic legal diligence.
  • Lead long-term plans for optimizing our contracting process, and provide operational and contracts support to in-house counsel.
  • Gather information about deals, provide procedural guidance, and support the closing of deals.
  • Help shape our templates and use them for drafting, and oversee contract automation.
  • Maintain contracting tools, records, and resources such as clause libraries and playbooks
  • Develop and provide trainings to internal stakeholders and new Legal team members.
  • Build out and own the legal side of the procurement process.
  • Own tracking and reporting of heightened contract obligations and non-standard terms.
  • Own and implement our digital signature process and procedures.
  • Own the process for updating our Terms of Service.
  • Drive reporting and accountability for the key performance indicators of the Commercial Contracts team.
  • Own and execute any other projects that require operational leadership on the Commercial Contracts team.

THE SKILL SET

  • 8+ years of experience managing contracting processes, including drafting and negotiation of standard contracts.
  • Ability to work independently, shift focus, adapt to changing priorities, maintain patience in high pressure situations and take initiative where appropriate. Able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and sense of professionalism and discretion, demonstrating accountability, integrity, and respect for confidentiality.
  • Precision/detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Sound judgment with ability to balance legal risk and business impact; motivated, resourceful problem solver.
  • Trustworthy, positive, energetic, optimistic attitude with a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
  • Collaborative team player with experience coordinating the efforts of multiple stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
  • The curiosity and confidence to navigate ambiguity, challenge the status quo, identify and implement process improvements.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal, including comfort with light contract drafting, negotiation and writing legal letters.
  • Experience with SaaS contracts and Master Services Agreements, professional services agreements, and data privacy agreements.
  • Proficient in Word and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with digital signature service and with cloud document storage.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

BONUS POINTS

  • Familiarity with live events industry and/or technology industry.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Conga, Docusign and Box.
  • Experience with Google Drive (Docs, Sheets).
  • Active Eventbrite user with a passion for live events.
