Country Director UK & I

London, England, United Kingdom

Country Director UK & I

Full-time | London | England | United Kingdom

Eventbrite is the world’s largest self-service ticketing platform. We build the technology to allow anyone to create, share, find and attend events that fuel their passions and enrich their lives. Music festivals, marathons, conferences, hackathons, air guitar competitions, political rallies, fundraisers, gaming competitions - you name it, we power it. Our mission? To bring the world together through live experiences.

We are experiencing strong international growth with a significant proportion of our business coming from outside of the US, and already have a presence in Canada, Australia, Germany, Argentina and Brazil, Spain and Benelux in addition to our San Francisco and Nashville offices.

Locally in the UK & I we have ambitious plans to further penetrate existing markets and establish new ones as we diversify our portfolio. We need a strong leader to continue to expand our market share and initial success within the local market.

The team is made up of three primary functions: Business Development, Marketing and Account Management, along with team members from Field Operations, Briteling Experience (HR), Legal and Facilities. Your job will be to lead the UK & I based teams by continuing to build a unified commercial business that covers both our sales and self-service platform. You’ll also help to attract, develop, and retain top talent for the team.

More broadly, you’ll be responsible for communicating with cross-functional team leaders across our global business. You will report on UK & I results and develop strategies for filling the gaps between functional areas, leading the response to any breaking or developing situations.

We are looking for a fearless, brilliant leader with a "Make-It-Happen" spirit to head up our UK and Irish operations. Based in our London office and reporting to the VP of Europe, this position requires experience in business planning, operational strategy, and execution. In this role, you will be responsible for the growth and management of our UKI business and office - that means leading all aspect of the UKI business including go-to-market activities, ops, recruiting, and talent management.

This position requires a strong leader who understands the broader market for access to events in UK & I, and wants to get to know buyers and sellers of all types and categories to become the expert at Eventbrite for local business practices and norms as they relate to ticketing and registration. You’ll be asked to use this knowledge to evolve the strategy for UK & I under the direction of the VP of Europe and in partnership with functional leads and other international leaders. This strategy includes an understanding of where Eventbrite's competitive landscape and product-market fit is strongest, leading to ongoing prioritisation of key focus areas for growth. This role will also include identifying new areas of market and revenue growth.

You’ll be fully responsible to implement this strategy by managing day-to-day operations, delivering against key performance indicators and metrics identified in the plan for the region, and sharing best practices as they develop globally. You’ll often have to evaluate options and make trade-offs between functional areas relative to the UKI business; a decisive leader with strong business acumen is required.

We’re looking for a self-starter with proven business sense, strong understanding of sales, marketing, customer support, strategy, and ethics, particularly in the tech world. You must thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere, and be comfortable working directly with, and reporting to, our executive staff. You’ll also represent Eventbrite externally, so being comfortable in public speaking and media interviews is a plus.

Periodic travel to the US and other global offices is to be expected.

  • Direct experience working in UK and Ireland for a nimble, fast moving company
  • Proven ability to set key business targets and achieve (and exceed) them
  • Ability to translate strategy into tactical operating plans
  • Comfortable with rapidly changing, fast moving organisations
  • Experience hiring, leading, and coaching a high-performing team
  • Functional experience in either Sales, Marketing, or Account Management
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and tech fluency

  • Experience with a US based company (ideally located in a non-HQ office) with a proven track record of driving growth in a respective country
  • Experience with marketplace businesses and / or the events or ticketing industry
  • Experience growing e-commerce businesses

Eventbrite is committed to equality of opportunity for all staff, and applications from all suitably qualified individuals are encouraged, regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
