As the Director of Corporate Communications at Eventbrite, you will be responsible for the successful development, planning, and execution of external communications strategies and programs that align with the company’s mission, advance and protect the company’s reputation, and support its business objectives. You will craft and drive a consistent narrative and create engaging platforms to help amplify Eventbrite’s mission: Bringing the world together through live experiences. This leader will manage and oversee a team of strategic communication professionals in North America, working closely with our investor relations, legal, policy, content standards, and trust and safety teams. This role is highly cross-functional, and the relationships you build with your colleagues will help set you up for success. 

This role reports to the VP of Global Communications. 


Our small, but mighty, Global Communications team is charged with bringing Eventbrite into people’s hearts, minds, and conversations. We are storytellers, press partners and evangelists who take a creative approach towards all forms of communications - from external media relations and speaking opportunities, to engaging global employee communication. 


  • Develop corporate narrative framework and messaging and drive cohesive strategy for company positioning 
  • Create thought leadership and executive communications strategy that leverages Eventbrite leaders to expand awareness of Eventbrite’s mission, impact and business results
  • Oversee C-suite external communications activities including media interviews, speaking opportunities, social media content and bylines
  • Drive external communications strategy for M&A activity and other major corporate initiatives
  • Lead crisis management globally; work across teams to develop proactive and reactive communication strategies and messaging to mitigate a variety of issues that may impact the company’s reputation
  • Build relationships with key business and financial media to secure stories that highlight Eventbrite’s market opportunity and competitive advantage
  • Serve as strategic thought partner to Investor Relations on communication materials for quarterly results; leverage the IR calendar to advance key points in Eventbrite’s corporate story through targeted media opportunities
  • Collaborate with Policy team to highlight reputation-building initiatives and activities


  • Build relationships with Eventbrite leaders and identify priority spokespeople and their respective roles in supporting our corporate narrative
  • Ensure global communication alignment and consistency of messaging by working cross-functionally with PR leads, investor relations, legal, policy, content standards and trust and safety teams across geographies
  • You have tenacity, are proactive, solution-driven, and are always on the lookout for the next opportunity to raise the profile of the company and its leadership team
  • Know the business, financial results and our product
  • Oversee management of corporate communications agency resources and budget
  • Manage and mentor corporate communications team within Global Communications function


  • Strong leader with experience managing and helping teams succeed, and working in a fast-paced and growing cross-functional environment
  • Graceful under pressure — you have the ability to effectively manage a variety of crisis situations and work with multiple constituents towards resolution 
  • Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges and be able to deal with ambiguity
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to work alongside C-level executives as a trusted advisor
  • High level of ownership and committed to achieving measurable results 
  • Proven track record working with top-tier business and financial reporters to secure stories that advance company priorities
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects at a time, and deliver quality work under pressure
  • Collaborative - we’re a close group in “Briteland,” and this role must work cross-functionally 
  • Exceptional communications skills — both written and verbal
  • Balance of strategic vision with tactical execution — you see the larger picture, but can also dig into the details to help the team get things done
  • Be flexible, adapt to change quickly, and be a positive change agent for others
  • Experience working with and managing agency partners 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 12+ years of communications experience


  • A combination of in-house and agency experience is a major plus
  • Experience working in a startup environment, as well as larger, pre- and post-IPO companies
  • Flexible in your approach and attitude. Things change quickly in tech, and someone who can pivot and acclimate quickly, all with a positive approach, does well at Eventbrite
