THE CHALLENGE

As the Director of Corporate Communications at Eventbrite, you will be responsible for the successful development, planning, and execution of external communications strategies and programs that align with the company’s mission, advance and reinforce the company’s reputation, and support its business objectives. You will craft and drive a consistent narrative and create engaging platforms to help amplify Eventbrite’s mission: Bringing the world together through live experiences. This leader will work closely with our investor relations, legal, content policy, and trust and safety teams; the role is highly cross-functional, and the relationships you build with your colleagues will help set you up for success.  This role reports to the Chief Communications Officer.  


THE TEAM


Our small, but mighty, Global Communications team is charged with bringing Eventbrite into people’s hearts, minds, and conversations. We are storytellers, press partners and evangelists who take a creative approach towards all forms of communications - from external media relations and speaking opportunities, to engaging global employee communication.


Corporate Communications


As Director of Corporate Communications you will lead the charge on positioning Eventbrite as the top-trusted partner for the industry, building and reinforcing the company’s reputation to solidify its place as category leader, and helping build creator and consumer confidence. You will ensure global communication alignment and consistency of messaging by working cross-functionally with investor relations, legal, content policy, and trust and safety teams across geographies. Knowledge of the business, our financial results, and product will be critical to your success in this role.

YOU WILL

  • Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to drive Eventbrite’s narrative in press and other external communication channels
  • Build relationships with key business and financial media to secure stories that highlight Eventbrite’s market opportunity and competitive advantage
  • Oversee C-suite external communications activities including media interviews, speaking opportunities, social media content and bylines
  • Lead crisis management for Eventbrite globally; work across teams to develop proactive and reactive communication strategies and messaging to mitigate a variety of issues that may impact the company’s reputation
  • Serve as strategic thought partner to Investor Relations on communication materials for quarterly earnings results; leverage the IR calendar to advance key points in Eventbrite’s corporate story through targeted media opportunities
  • Collaborate with Policy and Social Impact teams to highlight reputation-building initiatives and activities
  • Build relationships with Eventbrite leaders and identify priority spokespeople and their respective roles in supporting our corporate narrative
  • Oversee management of corporate communications agency resources and budget
  • Manage and mentor communications team members

THE SKILL SET

  • Graceful under pressure — you have the ability to effectively manage a variety of crisis situations and work with multiple constituents towards resolution 
  • Ability to successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges and be able to deal with ambiguity
  • Strong leader with experience and demonstrated ability to work alongside C-level executives as a trusted advisor
  • High level of ownership and committed to achieving measurable results 
  • Proven track record working with top-tier business and financial reporters to secure stories that advance company priorities
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects at a time, and deliver quality work under pressure
  • Collaborative - we’re a close group in the “Briteland,” and this role must work cross-functionally 
  • Exceptional communications skills — both written and verbal
  • Balance of strategic vision with tactical execution — you see the larger picture, but can also dig into the details to help the team get things done
  • Flexible in your approach and attitude — someone who can pivot and acclimate quickly, all with a positive approach, does well at Eventbrite
  • Experience working with and managing agency partners 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10+ years of communications experience

BONUS POINTS

  • A combination of in-house and agency experience is a major plus
  • Experience working in a startup environment, as well as larger, pre- and post-IPO companies
