THE CHALLENGE

To build a global payroll infrastructure capable of scaling with the company to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing, reporting, and accounting of all global payroll.  This will be accomplished through implementation of new systems, collaborating effectively with key internal and external stakeholders, refinement of existing processes, hiring of key team members, and developing and/or modifying key policies and SLA.


THE TEAM

The Payroll team is responsible for the timely and accurate payment of payroll as the business continues to go through significant growth and expansion while ensuring all internal and external requirements are met.  The team is comprised of a small number of highly competent and professional Britelings who take their work seriously and are committed to providing excellent customer service to their fellow Britelings.


THE ROLE

You’ll be shaping the global payroll process to become more automated and scalable through the use of better systems while collaborating closely with HR, Tax, Treasury, Finance, and the business to ensure changes needed to support the business are supported by Payroll.

YOU WILL

  • Develop and/or refine payroll processes for international entities to ensure payroll is processed in a timely manner while adhering to all applicable regulations; including framework to manage expat payroll, support of the tax equalization process, and equity related transactions
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, and Human Resources to build processes to allow the company to scale and to provide input on any changes to the business which have a direct impact on the payroll function
  • Work closely with Stock Administration, Legal, Finance, and Tax on the administration of payroll and equity-related issues and transactions
  • Continuously improve existing process to reduce processing times and costs, including processes around acquisitions and integrations, while ensuring a high degree of accuracy and precision
  • Support development and execution of SOX controls to maintain a strong internal controls environment; develop appropriate controls as the department grows
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal control standards, and current regulatory requirements; develop procedures/audits to ensure data integrity
  • Oversee multiple Payroll audits while maintaining effective business relationships with external firms, including the IRS and other taxing agencies, auditors, and SaaS vendors
  • Lead implementation of various payroll integrations
  • Handle escalations and urgent service requests

THE SKILL SET

  • CPP designation
  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience
  • 5+ years of managing foreign payroll
  • Experience in publicly traded companies
  • Thorough knowledge of general payroll practices and domestic and foreign countries regulations
  • Proficient with large payroll systems and how they integrate (e.g. ADP, Workday, etc.)
  • Experience with Accounting month-end close process and GL software, including recording journal entries, knowledge of how payroll transactions affect the GL, and ability to reconcile Payroll accounts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills required
  • Ability to identify issues and recommend solutions
  • High-level of integrity and professionalism; team player with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
