THE CHALLENGE

There are exciting things going on at Eventbrite.  Our product portfolio as well as our domestic and international presence continues to grow and expand at a rapid pace.  As a result, our business has become more complex and dynamic.  


The Director of Internal Audit will be responsible for developing and leading the newly created Internal Audit function in a rapidly expanding environment to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and other finance requirements.


THE TEAM

Our continued global growth has led to building out a best in class Finance team. We’ve evolved from a scrappy, all-hands-on-deck Finance team, and are now positioned to be the organized, well-oiled Finance organization that powers the financial stability of our rapidly growing business. The Director of Internal Audit will be an integral part of the Finance team at all levels to ensure financial reporting meets all of our internal / external requirements.


THE ROLE

This role will report to Audit Committee of the Board of Directors with administrative reporting to the CFO and will be responsible for developing, in collaboration of with the Audit Committee, a formal Internal Audit charter.  


This role will partner with executives and business leaders across the company to assess risk and to act as an advisor on designing and implementation of controls for scalability and assurance.  In addition, this role will be responsible for assessing the effectiveness of controls through various financial, operational, and IT audits.


YOU WILL

  • Develop formal company-wide risk management program
  • Develop, implement, and manage financial, operational, and IT audits with minimal oversight, including but not limited to
  • Lead existing 404 compliance efforts
  • Assess risk
  • Develop testing approach
  • Perform interviews/walkthroughs
  • Test key and secondary controls
  • Confirm and document results
  • Collaborate with internal teams to determine root cause of issues
  • Determine appropriate course of action to remediate as needed
  • Formally present to management overall assessment at the conclusion of each audit, including effectiveness of internal controls as required by Sarbanes-Oxley act
  • Proactively collaborate with key business leaders on new business initiatives to identify and mitigate risk and to ensure internal controls are properly considered and/or designed into the process
  • Collaborate with external auditors on testing [scope, nature, timing] and reporting of effectiveness of internal controls as required under SoX 404
  • Collaborate with internal teams to determine appropriate level of key and secondary controls for all business processes and ITGC and ITAC for in-scope applications
  • Partner with Legal on any significant whistleblower complaints and relevant matters
  • Be recognized as a leader, management consultant and internal controls expert;
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with business management, learning and understanding the business

THE SKILL SET

  • 12+ years of progressive accounting, audit, or internal audit work experience
  • Professional certification, such as CAMS, CIA, CPA, CFSA is preferred
  • Experience with cyber security assessment and audit experience a plus
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface effectively from staff members to executives and the audit committee
  • Collaborative, team oriented, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Travel 10-20%
