PR Manager

Full-time | Nashville | Tennessee | United States

Eventbrite is the world’s largest ticketing and event technology platform with a grand vision to bring the world together through live experiences. It is this charge that drives our need for an experienced, press-savvy, creative, go get ‘em PR Manager to help tell the stories of the power of our platform, our network of integration partners, our consistent product innovation and the millions of fans and event creators that use Eventbrite each year. Now, many of you may think fondly of Eventbrite as the ticketing company behind the events you love to go to—and this is true—however there’s more to the story of our company, and we’re looking for someone special to help us tell it. We need a person that brings gusto and grit, polish and performance, and most of all a smile to their work every day, alongside a deep desire to make a positive impact on Eventbrite’s brand narrative.

As a center of excellence within Eventbrite, the Communications team touches every corner of the business. It is essential that team members emit a high frequency of collaboration and cross-functional capabilities to ensure the stories we’re telling on behalf of the business are well-informed, fueled by subject matter expertise, and turned around in a (very) timely manner. Our team’s role is critical in supporting Eventbrite’s business objectives with strategic, precise and creative PR execution—which of course, promises outstanding opportunity and potential for the right candidate.

As a PR Manager, you will be responsible for helping to shape our corporate narrative through the pitching, securing and delivery of positive press coverage. More specifically, you’ll develop and implement creative, relevant and impactful PR campaigns across our technology division, product team, Spectrum partner network, data, and the Eventbrite marketplace.

We are a small but mighty team and this role will also touch other non-media elements of communications as needed, such as partnering with our internal communications teammates on internal initiatives, development of corporate messaging and thought leadership content, etc.

Oh, and you’ll be doing this alongside an amazing group of marketers, product folks, and engineers stretching across our global offices. This role is highly cross-functional, and the relationships you build with your colleagues will help set you up for success.

  • Partner with your communications team colleagues in both quarterly and annual planning of the overall media and communications strategy, aligning with the corporate vision and objectives. Create tactical plans that map back to this strategy, including creative, relevant and measurable PR campaigns and initiatives.
  • Drive strategy to broaden Eventbrite’s reach through product initiatives, innovation stories, our penetration in local markets, and the ecosystem of developers within our app marketplace, Spectrum.
  • Identify, craft and pitch relevant stories to a broad range of media, well, and often. This includes tech, business, consumer, and local press. Stories should align with our company vision and objectives, and aim to broaden the public awareness of Eventbrite.
  • Draft press releases, oversee partner releases, and manage the distribution of news through all relevant outlets and audiences.
  • Create news out of thin air! Find opportunities to communicate our story by leveraging data, product announcements, industry trends, bylines, speaking opportunities, marketing initiatives, etc.
  • Know the media, and proactively cultivate and nurture media relationships to ensure Eventbrite is a “known quantity” in our target publications.
  • Draft and edit material and presentations for public speaking opportunities; and help team leaders prepare for on-stage delivery of content.
  • Collaborate with our Communications Specialist and other team members to ensure we collectively run a tight ship as it relates to up-to-date press lists, press monitoring, highly impactful editorial award submissions, and keeping a finger on the pulse of which publications, lists and events are influential and emerging.

  • At least 5-8 years experience in communications. This means being responsible for developing comms strategies and placing stories for your client/company for more than 5 years.
  • 4-year degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or marketing.
  • You have a “make-it-happen spirit.” What this really means is boundless energy and drive; You have tenacity, are proactive, solution-driven, and are always on the lookout for the next opportunity to spread the Eventbrite story.
  • You’re well-connected, with an extensive media contact network across top-tier tech, business and consumer outlets and the kind of personality that quickly builds out any gaps. You routinely identify/create opportunities and pitch to appropriate contacts often.
  • You have a proven track record at successfully placing stories with solid brand positioning in a wide range of B2C and B2B outlets.
  • You don’t need to know how to code, but we do need you to leverage your tech prowess to hang with the best and the brightest in tech media, and to be a solid communications partner to our technical colleagues.
  • You’re passionate and dedicated, almost to a fault. We’re changing an industry afterall. This is an incredibly exciting time for Eventbrite and we need people who believe in what we are doing.
  • Did we mention collaborative? We’re a close family in the Briteland, and this role will work across many functions, and we need someone who is comfortable department surfing.
  • Solid communication prowess—both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to act quickly and manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Positivity! We like coming to work, and a big part of it is working with amazing, happy people that inherently look for the bright side.

  • A combo of in-house and agency experience is a major plus.
  • Experience working in a startup environment, as well as larger, more corporate entities.
  • Flexible in your approach and attitude. Things change quickly in tech, and someone who can pivot and acclimate quickly, all with a positive approach, does well at Eventbrite.
  • Know how to leverage data, insights and conduct research to help you tell a great story.
  • Someone who is always looking to take on more and help.  Not a box-checker, but someone who volunteers and sees the work all the way through
