THE TEAM

Eventbrite Security is responsible for all aspects of information security across the enterprise, including Web and Mobile application security, Cloud, Security Awareness Training, Policy and Compliance, and a host of things in the middle. We’re charged with building the foundations that help protect the company’s information and our customer’s data.

  

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Principal Security Engineer to lead the technical aspects of the security team. This role will have a wide set of responsibilities including representing Security in the cross-functional architecture team, setting standards and policies for the organization, providing high-level reviews of new designs and applications, ensuring all applications and systems are meeting our rigorous standards, amongst other things.


As a technical leader, you will assist Security Management to shape the technical roadmap for the development of new tools, technology, and process being developed by the Security Engineering team that can make the most impact to securiing applications and systems used by our engineers every day.


You will bring cloud expertise to ensure that we are using the correct technology and being monitored and alerted when either we have state inconsistent with policy or threats needing investigation. As Eventbrite shifts into a DevSecOps model for its daily operations, we will leverage your experience to find flaws in our plans and remediate them with a positive, business-centric, and problem solving approach.


You will partner very closely with other branches of the organization including Legal, Privacy, Governance, Compliance, Product, and Internal IT teams. Your experience will help guide these teams to be solving their problems in a security-first approach.

THE SKILL SET

  • 10+ years of experience with security engineering in e-commerce, internet, or social networking settings.
  • Strong knowledge of UNIX operating systems, command line usage, and system administration
  • Proven ability to guide engineering teams through information security design requirements
  • Advanced programming abilities in Python (Strongly Preferrred) or similar programming language
  • Advanced knowledge of the Amazon Web Services environment and underlying security model
  • Mastery of security principles including confidentiality and integrity of data, authentication and authorization protocols, and other cryptographic protocols
  • Deep understanding of network attacks, DDoS, Phishing, email protocols/security/spam, encryption, authentication, logging and log analysis, IP and device reputation, and security rules and policies
  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Computer Science or comparable field
