Privacy Counsel

In the last decade, Eventbrite has grown from a small US company to a complex global business, with operations in over 186 countries and 10 offices worldwide. Accompanying this exciting international growth is any number of complex regulations and laws impacting, among others, commercial business dealings, payment services, ecommerce, and ticketing that challenge our day to day operations. 


The Eventbrite legal team partners with all business units to develop strategies and solutions that satisfy legal requirements and drive business growth. We provide counsel on matters including commercial contracts, licensing, IP, employment law, privacy, corporate governance and equity plan administration.



As part of the legal department’s product and policy team, you’ll be the primary attorney leading our privacy compliance and data protection efforts globally.  You’ll become a business enabler for our product managers, customer success, sales and customer experience teams allowing them to move quickly while remaining within legal requirements and our global privacy standards.  You will also partner closely with our security team to create policies and procedures protecting company data.  You’ll guide consistent and scalable data protection standards across Eventbrite’s global business and will see your impact immediately as our programs continue to complement the needs of our organizers and consumers.


  • Lead the ongoing support, continued integration, and periodic training of Eventbrite’s recently launched global data privacy program across North and South America, Europe and Australia
  • Work closely with the product attorneys to advise on privacy impact of new product launches and marketing & communication practices
  • Advise on privacy and data security provisions of third party customer and vendor contracts
  • Proactively analyze proposed regulations constantly performing risk assessments to determine what, if any, modifications our current program or practices require
  • Concisely articulate Eventbrite privacy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses, or internal and external meetings
  • Support M&A transactions and/or financing transactions, including post-close integration efforts
  • Manage Data Protection Impact Assessments & Records of Processing Activities 
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, engineering, sales, and customer experience to create internal programs promoting privacy standards as a metric for success
  • Advise on the sufficiency of cybersecurity insurance
  • Work closely with the Security and Corp Comms team in the event of a data incident
  • Stay on top of the privacy landscape across Silicon Valley and similar platform-based businesses
  • Forge strong cross-functional relationships with teams throughout the Organization bringing Eventbrite’s commitment to data privacy to life in a pervasive yet unobtrusive manner


  • 5+ years of product and privacy counseling
  • Extensive experience advising on domestic and global privacy issues, including the GDPR, ePrivacy directive, Section 5 of FTC Act relating to privacy, anti spam and cookie regulations
  • Enjoy leading cross-functional projects, partnering with active business development, engineering, product, and marketing teams and you are good at it
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to inform an audience accurately and completely, while being concise and digestible 
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary to analyze regulatory requirements, product limitations, and the effectiveness of proposed resolutions
  • Collaborative team player with an ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple fast-moving, and high-priority projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated passion for the work, our vision, and excitement to jump in


  • In house tech legal experience
  • Active Eventbrite user that enjoys live events
