THE CHALLENGE

Eventbrite is a people-first organization. Our goal of building the global platform for live experience relies on the foundation of top talent and strong company culture. Our team is the face of Eventbrite, and we’re charged with finding, attracting, and bringing on the best of the best to drive Eventbrite’s growing business and award-winning culture forward. Hiring the best talent globally is no easy feat. However, we have a talented team who has an inspiring story and mission. Our perfect candidate is someone who can connect that vision and story with top-notch talent.

THE TEAM

Eventbrite Security is responsible for all aspects of information security across the enterprise, including Web and Mobile application security, Cloud, Security Awareness Training, Policy and Compliance, and a host of things in the middle. We’re charged with building the foundations that help protect the company’s information and our customer’s data.

THE ROLE

Eventbrite is undertaking a significant series of projects to transform our cloud infrastructure to a model where individual engineering teams own their infrastructure in the cloud. With this transformation comes the responsibility of the engineering teams to understand cloud security and configurations.

Vulnerability and Patch Management is a crucial part of any company's security efforts. As new threats emerge, our team must be able to rapidly assess the threat landscape, make recommendations, and track fixes across a fairly large surface area.

This position will require being able to compile information across the organization, communicate status and receive updates from various engineering teams, then collate this information and provide reports and updates to management so the efficacy of program can be measured and changes implemented as needed.

In addition to the Vulnerability Management component of the position, we are looking to have a dedicated leader for our incident response program. You will bring communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to document the company's response to an incident, lead the team through more complex cyber incidents, create training programs on the incident response process, and create/lead the periodic incident response training programs for all areas of the company.

While these are the primary focus of this role, participating in the overall security team with other responsibilities will be required. Participating in code reviews, design reviews, and other areas where your experience can be leveraged will be needed. Additionally, we will expect some level of cross training in other functional areas that the team supports where specific coverage is not already in place.

THE SKILL SET

  • 3+ years of experience with security engineering, particularly with experience in vulnerability management
  • Proven knowledge and leadership in incident response processeses.
  • Experience using 3rd party tooling related to vulnerability management (InsightVM, Nessus, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of UNIX operating systems, command line usage, and system administration
  • Advanced programming abilities in Python (Strongly Preferrred) or similar programming language
  • Mastery of security principles including confidentiality and integrity of data, authentication and authorization protocols, and other cryptographic protocols
  • Deep understanding of network attacks, DDoS, Phishing, email protocols/security/spam, encryption, authentication, logging and log analysis, IP and device reputation, and security rules and policies
