THE OPPORTUNITY

In 2018, over 65 million people worldwide will buy tickets on Eventbrite. That’s a lot of experiences—and a wealth of stories to tell. Content plays a crucial role in our mission to transform Eventbrite into the consumer destination to discover things to do. As Eventbrite’s events marketplace grows, we seek an experienced writer and editor who thinks creatively and strategically about content (and has a passion for food and drink, music, culture, and entertainment).


THE ROLE

As Editorial Content Lead, you’ll be responsible for creating innovative content that brings our brand to life and builds meaningful connections with our audience of enthusiastic event-goers, driving awareness, consumer engagement, acquisition and retention. You’ll also bring the latest trends and most interesting voices to Eventbrite, translating all that’s happening in local landscapes into the best editorial vehicles. Equally creative and operations-focused, this role requires a skilled project manager with experience managing content production, freelancers, editorial calendars, and budgets. Reporting to the Director of Content, this full-time role is based in San Francisco.

YOU WILL

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of writers, editors, and curators to write and edit engaging content across a variety of channels—editorial, product, and email—ensuring all copy and stories meet highest standards for voice, narrative, SEO, and brand fit. 
  • Understand how to balance marketing and creative strategies in storytelling, creating memorable editorial and brand experiences. 
  • Collaborate with Product, Marketing, SEO, Email, Design, and Brand to distribute, repackage, and test content, continually innovating and optimizing our approach. 
  • Manage content operations, budgets, and production process with a network of freelance writers and contractors.
  • Ideate, plan, and execute content to support marketing and/or monetization initiatives.
  • Working with Director of Content, use data, research, and insights (SEO, Google Analytics) to inform a content experience that’s cohesive and effective across all channels.
  • Identify influencers, personalities, and partners relevant to the brand and audience.

THE SKILL SET

  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for storytelling. You understand that great writing can transform how a person feels about a brand, and your confident, thoughtful editorial style inspires writers to do their best work—with consideration for both the writer's voice and the reader's experience.
  • 7+ years professional editing or writing experience, preferably for a lifestyle brand or agency.
  • 2+ years experience managing freelance writers, contractors, and/or agencies.
  • Avid reader, culture vulture, and explorer of the internet.
  • Writer, editor, and grammarian with published work that demonstrates your voice, command of language, and taste. 
  • Experience working across a variety of marketing mediums, including email and social.
  • Highly organized, process-driven, and solution-oriented project manager.
  • A skilled verbal and written communicator who communicates clearly, kindly, and frequently.
  • A strong visual point of view to co-create designed content, video, and photography.
  • Thrives in an ambiguous, continually-evolving work environment.
  • Degree in English, Journalism, or Creative Writing. 
  • Strongly-held opinions on exclamation points, Oxford commas, and Instagram Stories.

  • Strong subject-matter expertise in music, food and drink, travel or entertainment
  • You’ve worked in a commerce environment
  • Experience working with distributed, remote teams
