THE CHALLENGE

The Finance team is seeking to add an inquisitive analytical partner to support the business leaders of Eventbrite’s new streams of solutions revenue, and related activities. 


The successful individual will partner with the leaders of Marketplace and other business units who drive monetization of non-transactional activity (such onsite support, web presence, Brand and customer service, and other nascent projects.  Each of these activities calls for the finance partner to be successful at communicating complex operating models and enabling the best resource allocation decisions for Eventbrite. 


THE TEAM

The Business Unit Finance team partners with senior company leaders to identify risks and opportunities to achieving their operating plans, and make recommendations around the optimal allocation of resources.  Finance is expected to advocate strongly-held opinions around each BU’s commitments to improve revenues, reduce costs, and manage risk.

 

THE ROLE

This contribution to Eventbrite’s growth and financial management requires a strong Finance partner who is comfortable with, firstly, traditional finance decision-support to a technology organization; and secondly, de novo modeling for new products into new markets – including summarizing analysis, establishes ranges of outcomes and corresponding responses, and guiding senior management through areas of ambiguity.


- Support the Finance rhythm, including monthly close, annual planning, and quarterly business reviews


- Maintain a close relationship with the leaders of Marketplace, Brand, and Incubation business units, understand the key operational drivers of their businesses, and be the authority within Finance for their current performance vs expectations


- Understand and communicate Financial goals to the businesses, and provide a translation to the BU’s leadership team in their operating vernacular


- Model and frame new opportunities to clearly expose the investment risks and returns so that BU resources can be effectively deployed within the overall Eventbrite portfolio 


THE SKILL SET

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
  • 4-6 years of relevant work experience in Finance, with emphasis with on analytics and cross-functional team collaboration
  • Comfortable with pulling information from a range of corporate repositories (finance, accounting, data warehouses, etc.,) and manipulating report outputs into usable forms (SQL, pivot tables)
  • Advanced Excel modeling and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivate in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with competing deadlines

BONUS POINTS

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Experience in a technology company or high-tech environment
  • Thoughtful planning and strong engagement with senior level business partners and executives
  • Creative modeling of financial opportunities, ability to impose appropriate framework on nascent business opportunities
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Netsuite, or other ERP
