THE CHALLENGE

Over the last decade, we have built a world-class software as a service (SaaS) platform for event organizers, enabling millions of events globally.  In the process, we have touched millions of consumers, helping them get together, explore their interests, and pursue their passions through live experiences. We are looking for a highly skilled, experienced technical product managers who can help our platform continue to scale.


THE TEAM

We're a people-focused Engineering organization:  the women and men on our team value working together in small teams to solve big problems, supporting an active culture of mentorship and inclusion, and pushing themselves to learn new things daily. Pair programming, weekly demos, tech talks, and quarterly hackathons are at the core of how we’ve built our team and product. We believe in engaging with the community, regularly hosting free events with some of the top technical speakers, and actively contributing to open source software (check out Britecharts as an example!). Our technology spans across web, mobile, API, big data, machine learning, search, physical point of sale, and scanning systems. Meet some of the team.


THE ROLE

The Data and Machine Learning team is working to unlock more insights and benefits for millions of creators and attendees around the globe. Building on more than 12 years of events, there is a huge opportunity to enable creators to organize more successful events and help attendees discover new live experiences. 

This role puts you at the center of that opportunity, working shoulder-to-shoulder with the engineering teams, driving the organization to deliver advancements to the platform via research, analysis, and infrastructure improvements. Are you ready to dive in?

THE SKILL SET

  • 5+ years as a product manager working on data-driven products or platforms
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent Computer Science degree
  • Deep understanding of Big Data technologies and tools (e.g. Hive, Kafka, Presto, and Spark)
  • Experience working with a very technical team on developer-facing products
  • Very comfortable with data (cleaning, structuring, analyzing) and a strong understanding of SQL
  • Ability to take initiative and produce results with great communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion to learn and to mentor others

BONUS POINTS

  • Former engineers with hands-on experience with AWS data products such as EMR, S3, and EC2
  • Proven experience building and integrating machine learning tools to drive business impact
  • Familiarity with microservice architectures and associated infrastructure
  • Experience being on a scrum team and/or is a scrum master
  • Speaking/organizing in the community
