Senior Security Engineer

THE TEAM

Eventbrite Security is responsible for all aspects of information security across the enterprise, including Web and Mobile application security, Cloud, Security Awareness Training, Policy and Compliance, and a host of things in the middle. We’re charged with building the foundations that help protect the company’s information and our customer’s data.  

THE ROLE

Eventbrite is undertaking a significant series of projects to transform our cloud infrastructure to a model where individual engineering teams own their infrastructure in the cloud. With this transformation comes the responsibility of the engineering teams to understand cloud security and configurations. This role will be responsible for creating the policies and implementations of cloud security configurations, alerting and monitoring when there are violations, and implementing automation to remediate any violations where possible.

You will bring enough experience developing using tools like Python, Boto, AWS Lambda and other tools to create such automated workflows and integrations with other tools such as Jira, Slack, and custom solutions for the company's needs.

You will be a leader for the company to migrate to the cloud, provide first-class training and mentorship to engineering teams leading them to secure and performant cloud-based infrastructure which meets the company's product goals, as well as, meets the needs of our security policies and compliance frameworks. Additionally, you will be a leader to the internal security team advising us on best practices and other situations which may arise.

You will ensure that all accounts are continuously secure and audit ready. All deviations and insecurities are ticketed automatically and remediated through alerting, reporting. You will provide periodic analysis to the executive security team recommending any changes in security posture.

While cloud security is the primary focus of this role, participating in the overall security team with other responsibilities will be required. Participating in code reviews, design reviews, and other areas where your experience can be leveraged will be needed. Additionally, we will expect some level of cross training in other functional areas that the team supports where specific coverage is not already in place.

• 5+ years of experience working with cloud security (preferably AWS).
• 5+ years of experience with security engineering in e-commerce, internet, or social networking settings.
• Strong knowledge of UNIX operating systems, command line usage, and system administration
• Proven ability to guide engineering teams through information security design requirements
• Advanced programming abilities in Python (Strongly Preferred) or similar programming language
• Mastery of security principles including confidentiality and integrity of data, authentication and authorization protocols, and other cryptographic protocols
• Deep understanding of network attacks, DDoS, Phishing, email protocols/security/spam, encryption, authentication, logging and log analysis, IP and device reputation, and security rules and policies
• Bachelor or Masters Degree in Computer Science or comparable field

• AWS Security Certifications
• Experience with security compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, SOC2, ISO27001, etc.
