There are exciting things going on behind the scenes at Eventbrite.  Our product portfolio and international presence continues to grow and expand.  As a result, our business has become more complex and dynamic.   Our Tax team partners with the business and Executive leadership to develop and monitor our overall domestic and international tax strategy. We are working through significant global tax challenges as we continue to scale so this role will have an impact on key areas of the business such as product development and legal policy.

The Tax crew works cross-functionally with Executive leaders and frontline managers across Eventbrite to provide support for global business initiatives. As a results and action-oriented team, we give structure to complicated issues by thinking creatively to find solutions while always ensuring compliance. THE ROLE

We’re looking for an energetic and highly motivated Tax Manager to assist in building our global tax function. In your role as the Tax Manager, you will have the opportunity to focus on a variety of dynamic direct and indirect tax issues and assist in developing and implementing a global tax strategy in a time of unprecedented change.  You will also have an opportunity to collaborate closely with our Engineering and Payments Product teams as we develop and implement indirect and operational efficiencies. You will report directly to Eventbrite's Head of Global Tax.

  • Highly adaptive and flexible
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • Scale and process-oriented with high attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work.
  • Analytical ability to provide suggestions and alternatives to complex scenarios
  • Solid technical skills – pragmatic, business-oriented approach and ability to relate taxation issues to the "real world" of the company's operations
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local tax law and applicable regulations
  • Exposure to international tax issues.
  • Experience analyzing domestic and international indirect tax issues in the e-Commerce space
  • Experience in the preparation and review of federal and state income tax return workpapers
  • Understanding and knowledge of ASC 740 Accounting for Income Tax, including preparation and review of provision workpapers
  • Strong documentation skills
  • A minimum of 5 – 7 years of tax experience, with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance; MST/CPA preferred
