Eventbrite is looking for a VP of Data who will lead end-to-end data strategy and the consolidation of data-related efforts throughout the business. The ideal candidate will have expertise in data science and data architecture, as well as having a keen commercial sensibility. We are looking for a leader who can oversee the growth and development of data within the business in a way that grows the value of our data asset and expands our opportunity. This leader should be a self-starter who can lead and bringing together discrete teams across the organization with energy and effectiveness. They also need to lead and mentor a growing organization. Finally, this leader should think about how to use the data asset of Eventbrite to further the interests of creators and consumers, not just the company. 

A successful VP of Data will also be responsible for:

- Growth and management of the largest data asset around events on the planet.

- Providing learnings from that valuable data to our creators in order to help them better run their businesses, such as using our aggregate historical pricing information to help creators determine what to charge for their next event. These learnings will guide the future product roadmap in areas such as ticket pricing, marketing, and yield management.

- Driving the development of stronger analytics capabilities within each of the divisions of the company. For instance, this role will help to refine our broad categorization system that can be easily used by creators, easily understood by attendees and relevant for internal analyses. 


The Data team will consist of our Data Architecture unit, our Data Insights units, and other analytics and data science clusters throughout the company. The VP of Data will bring together these assets with a goal of forging a greater whole, crystallizing Eventbrite’s data asset and driving development aligned with increasing the value of Eventbrite as a whole. As a result, we need an exceptional capable and nimble leader who can build a single team, provide technical and analytical leadership and think about the commercial applications of what is being created. This leader will also oversee analytical and data science culture across the organization, and set policies and norms around analytical and data science practices.


The VP of Data will serve as a key member of the Eventbrite executive team and oversee strategic planning, financial planning, operational management and process management for all technical and operational aspects of Data in the firm. 


  • Forge the various data units into a single, effective team
  • Understand the data architecture, structure and usage across the business, helping the business advance data culture and the effectiveness of data throughout the organization
  • Drive commercial utilization of data and the development of products and services that are fueled by Eventbrite’s unique and extensive data set
  • Lead the development and innovation in the data structure, continually refining how data is structured and used
  • Oversee the evolution of Eventbrite’s data architecture, including testing and deploying of cutting edge technology
  • Drive a culture of performance, maintaining KPIs, dashboards and appropriate trend tracking for data
  • Analyze and help the organization and the board of directors understand how various initiatives are tracking


  • 15+ years of relevant experience in data analysis, science or architecture
  • Knowledge of various practices and approaches related to gaining insight from analyzing and modeling large volumes of data
  • Possess commercial instinct on how to use data to drive better returns for the business and increase the overall value of the business. 
  • Creativity to think beyond conventional approaches to data in the event management industry
  • Exceptional analytical mindset to help mentor and develop the team
  • A passion to teach and impart knowledge to the broader global team
  • An ability to find insight about the business in the aggregated data set
  • Partner and support a global leadership team in driving to results with empathy, judgment and accountability


  • Experience at companies that are relevant in terms of business model or served markets
  • Advance degrees related to analytics, data science and / or data architecture / computing
  • Actual experience in bringing together and creating a single data team
